ABOUT
I am Brian Kelly, a sole proprietor that specializes in producing visual renderings for event proposals used by destination management companies. I am based in Pittsburgh and provide my services to clients such as Hello Las Vegas, Access, MC&A and 360 Destination Group across the country. My background in scenic design for theater and television in New York City led me to this specialization. I was contacted by renowned event expert Preston Bailey, who was searching for an artist with my experience, and spent five years on his design team as the rendering artist. Since then, I have worked with several national Destination Management firms.
MY PROCESS
My typical process starts with receiving event details from the creative design team with a destination management company. These details include venue information, design elements, lighting plans, and entertainment options, usually presented in a proposal with photos. After reviewing and clarifying the information with a phone call, I begin creating sketches, which usually take no more than a day to complete.
Using Photoshop and Illustrator, I create detailed renderings and share them with the client as a JPEG. To facilitate quick and easy revisions, I maintain a Photoshop file with each sketch element on a separate layer. While I usually receive positive feedback on the first draft, I'm always ready to make any necessary changes to ensure the client is satisfied with the final product. My clients are usually quite happy with the first draft though.
